Contact Youth - Helping young people to help themselves
VISION NI’s relationship with Contact Youth began in November 2001. Contact Youth is Northern Ireland's Head Quarter Voluntary Organisation for the provision of counseling services for young people.
Founded, in 1977, it is an independent registered charity and became a company limited by guarantee in 1996. It is a free confidential service for young people and also offers services to parents and professionals working with young people. Youthline, the charity's free phone number has been operating successfully for many years and during 1999/2000 over 1400 young people used the counseling services.
VISION Trust's first offer was to analyse their existing financial and administrative processes and to redesign to reduce waste and increase efficiency. This project involved interviews and workshops with key individuals and was successfully completed in 12 VISION Trust days.
Since this project, VISION Trust has raised a substantial sum for Contact Youth and carried out a review of their Hardware/Software resources and submitted proposals for improvements. These suggestions where taken on board and earlier this year VISION assisted with the purchase and implementation of computer equipment.
The next project was the redesign of the funding application process and assisting with the development of databases. The new funding application process has been running for a number of months now. It has helped significantly as the organistion has experienced rapid and significant growth so its funding processes are critical.
We are now in discussion with Contact Youth about providing support in the areas of Human Resources to help in the recruitment and management processes of the new staff and also in the finance department to help manage the larger organisation and wider funding streams.
